Importance of Sleep

Everyone loves sleep, I mean, why wouldn't you? However, many do not get enough of it or have a good sleep schedule. I find this especially important to talk about now because we are coming off of a break in which not everyone may be on their normal sleep schedule, whether it be staying up later or sleeping in longer than normal. Sleep is so important to our overall health and by not getting enough, our body looks for more energy in other ways. This is when we start to eat unhealthier than normal, as we tend to lean towards more junk food to energize us. Not only that, but we also do not function properly compared to when we get the recommended amount of sleep. So, as we come back from break and prepare for the home stretch of the semester, especially finals week, remember how important it is to get the recommended hours of sleep and have a proper sleep schedule, as this in itself can help you function better during that rough week!

  1. Awesome blog Billy! Many people are unaware of the side effects of lack of sleep. I was unaware that when we are tired, we turn to carbs and sweets as means of quick energy. This makes total sense, however. I am all too familiar with functioning poorly due to lack of sleep. Hopefully, that won't be a problem for any of us with finals around the corner. Great blog!

  2. Nice blog, especially for college students in general. It's obvious that most people don't get enough sleep. This is due to studying, doing school work, or just staying up too late in general. I do struggle with this as well. Even though that I try to make the most out of everyday, I still understand that I need sleep.

  3. Yes, this blog relates to me so much. I have noticed I have been looking to junk food to get my energy in the past couple of days. But when I noticed this I switched up my diet. This caused me to fall asleep earlier, but I felt a lot better in the morning. But yeah you are right, this is the home stretch and you need to put the right things in your body to get the right things out.
