Dealing with Stress
As the end of the semester is finally in sight, that also means finals week is soon. With that, comes more stress as we try to study and get all of our assignments done. The amount of stress we can accrue can be very unhealthy. With that being said, it is important for us to handle this stress in a positive way in order to keep it from becoming any worse. There are so many things we can do to eliminate some of our stress. One of the biggest things is exercise. Exercising releases endorphins that in turn helps the body sleep, which is obviously something we need, especially during a crucial time like finals week. There are many other ways to reduce the stress as well, and they can be simple things such as just taking a break from the work and hanging out with friends if you manage time correctly. Stress is something we all have at some point. It is how we handle it that makes us stronger, and exercise is one of the best ways to do so.

Adapted Physical Activity
While working towards a minor in APA, I have really learned a lot. One thing I can say for sure is the more you get involved, the more it changes your life. We really do not think about a lot of the things that we take for granted, in this case it can be even the simplest of things to us such as walking or running. I have been around a lot of amazing people this year while taking my Disability Sport class, as I helped coach a Special Olympics soccer team in Butler. I think I have learned more from them than they have from me. I learned to just have fun and enjoy the little things, because sometimes these are the best things. I just wanted to share my recent experiences here and let anyone who reads this know that it is always important to enjoy even the littlest of things because we sometimes take for granted what all we have!

Importance of Sleep
Everyone loves sleep, I mean, why wouldn't you? However, many do not get enough of it or have a good sleep schedule. I find this especially important to talk about now because we are coming off of a break in which not everyone may be on their normal sleep schedule, whether it be staying up later or sleeping in longer than normal. Sleep is so important to our overall health and by not getting enough, our body looks for more energy in other ways. This is when we start to eat unhealthier than normal, as we tend to lean towards more junk food to energize us. Not only that, but we also do not function properly compared to when we get the recommended amount of sleep. So, as we come back from break and prepare for the home stretch of the semester, especially finals week, remember how important it is to get the recommended hours of sleep and have a proper sleep schedule, as this in itself can help you function better during that rough week!

The Effects of Too Much Television
Did you know that watch too much television can actually take time off of your life? According to an article from "The Guardian" that I listed below, a study in Australia that was also carried out by the British Journal of Sports Medicine shows that after the age of 25, every half hour to an hour of time spent watching tv could shorten your expected lifespan by about 20 minutes. Everyone enjoys watching television to some extent, and this is not to say to stop watching it altogether, but rather to show the importance of getting out and being physically active instead. Watching endless hours of television starts to rot the brain, so physical activity is a great way to continue building brain power. This can be done in numerous ways, such as a sport, lifting weights, or simply just going for a run or walk. You are also more likely to overeat when watching tv because your attention is on something other than your food, so again, physical activity plays a key role here. There is no shame in watching television, just remember how important it is to stay physically active even in your later years of life!
